"Before you started coming to our village, most of the babies born here were skinny, and cried all the time. The babies born since you started caring for these women are so different, they are fat, they don't cry as much, their mothers seem happier taking care of them and they know what to do when they are sick or fussy because you visit and help them learn."
Household violence is common... Often I hear that it's nothing we can change.
But that doesn't mean we stop trying.

The children see that they are rich. Their existence is no longer marked by the empty cup extended, full of need. They now see the full cup extended, to give to those who have need.
She was just starting to show when the wife came to the place they both worked and confronted the man they both thought they were with. In the end, this baby's father returned to his wife and abandoned the girl he had taken advantage of.
These women have never been taught about their bodies. They didn't know how their cycles work. They didn't know how pregnancy happens. Several of the mamas in my class are teenagers. They might not be pregnant right now if someone had given them basic sex education.
